Hi, I am looking to plant Rosella plants later on in the year, and as I have free ranging chickens in the back yard - I am wondering if these plants are safe (non-toxic) if the chickens happen to nibble at them? Can't find anything when doing a web search! Cheers

Lemonbalm seeds aren't particularly rare, I think i even picked mine up at Kmart or a 2 dollar shop!

Planted rocket and they are wilting, not thriving at all. The bed also has broccoli and cauliflower, could that be affecting their growth.

Chicory - Witloof. I live in northern NSW and my planting guide says plant chicory seed in March. Plants have all germinated and I will transplant to 20cm apart. Just want to know how high they may grow? And at what time should I pull up roots and "force" them? Thankyou John

Beans (and peas for that matter) have a habit of dropping immature pods if watering is inconsistent or inadequate. Thicker mulch layer with help retain soil moisture

My green peppers an tomatoes doesn't do well tomatoe leaves turn grey and greenpeper leaves don't look so good. I do treat them with insect sprays it helps but I get one or 2 peppers a time .

When should you stop feeding the rhubarb plants? When picking the stems, I was told to only take one quarter of the stems at a time, and have had a good continuous supply. Have 2 red stemmed plants and one with green stems, both taste the same!

I am actually in Brazil in the tropical highlands. Most of the rain falls in the summer average high temperature is 28. I have lots of violet artichokes grown from seed acquired in Brazil and also in Spain. All the plants are doing well but the first to produce were planted with and in a linear row under Hawaiian papayas...which provide a bit of shade, They are pretty carefree... no pests..even my goats do not bother with them...and they eat most everthing... Oil pickled artichokes are a treat and are unheard of here... the little violet chokes are the best for that purpose...

Hi Doug and you will find it is usually high temperatures that cause it and they simply fall off, don't worry you will get more on the plant. We plant ours in an area that are protected from the midday sun to stop the vegetable drop and have found that helps. We fertilise with Seasol once a fortnight and give them a side dressing of AG lime. Capsicums love calcium and this makes the walls of the vegetables thick and healthy. Alternatively you can crush up washed and dried egg shells and place them around the base of the plant & dig in. Happy gardening

It could be that the seed you bought was old. Older seeds tend to take a bit longer to germinate if at all. It could also be that you planted the seed in soil that was too cold and moist, judging by your post being in mid-winter. You could also possibly have planted the seeds too deep. This is normally a very reliable seed.
