Tomatillo 30 Apr, David Bruce Claydon (Australia - temperate climate)
Hi there, I live in the Upper Hunter Valley in New South Wales where temperatures can go between -2 & 40+ in summer. Would tomatillo grow in this climate & if so, which month would be best to plant.
Onion 29 Apr, Daniel (Australia - temperate climate)
I'm trying an idea of planning the base of spring onions I buy at the green grocers after eating the top portion. Has any else tried this?
Onion 01 May, Jordan (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
Yep, works a treat. Put the bottoms in water to let them grow roots and transplant.
Parsley (also curly leaf parsley or flat leaf (Italian) parsley) 28 Apr, nombulelo (South Africa - Semi-arid climate)

Cape Gooseberry (also Golden Berry, Inca Berry ) 28 Apr, Mitch Orchard (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
We have successfully grown a number of Cape Gooseberry plants in our school garden (located at Bundarra - NW NSW). We are currently harvesting the fruit and the yield is fantastic.
Parsley (also curly leaf parsley or flat leaf (Italian) parsley) 27 Apr, Dan in the Garden (Australia - temperate climate)
I grow a continuous supply of flat leaf parsley to make tabouli. It's such a healthy salad. The parsley takes the iron out of my soil and converts it into a form I can eat. A glass of orange juice helps your body absorb it.
Parsnip 27 Apr, Richard (Australia - temperate climate)
how do you harvest on medium sized scale
Zucchini (also Courgette/Marrow, Summer squash) 27 Apr, Megan (Australia - tropical climate)

Zucchini (also Courgette/Marrow, Summer squash) 15 May, Genevieve (Australia - temperate climate)
Zucchini doesn't seem to grow well in humid conditions.
Onion 27 Apr, Noel Oliver (Australia - temperate climate)
What month to plant red onion seed and brown onion seed
Onion 30 Apr, Paul (Australia - arid climate)
Onions can be grown all year round and with regularly planting seed every month you will have a continuous crop. Always let the most vigourous go to seed so you have a constant supply as onion seed does not remain viable for too many years, 3 tops if you want good germination rates.

Garlic 26 Apr, Rosa (Australia - temperate climate)
I have not had much success with growing garlic, last year they when harvested most of them were rotten. So how much water does it need? If planted in the some rectangular bed with beans or peas how far should it be? Thanks
Garlic 07 Nov, Robyn (Australia - temperate climate)
Rosa, the article states not to grow with beans maybe that is why you are having trouble growing garlic
Garlic 05 Oct, Jayne (Australia - temperate climate)
Yes I am having the same problem this year
Garlic 26 Apr, Vincent (South Africa - Humid sub-tropical climate)
Hi. Thanks for the information. I have grown garlic on raised beds, and the plants look fine. I want to know if they will withstand a tropical sun or I will have to shield them with a sunscreen. Plants are a month old, and the weather is on the shift from 5he rainy humid season to the dry and sunny season.
Asparagus 26 Apr, Kobus (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
Where can I buy asparagus crowns in Pretoria erea?
Lettuce 26 Apr, Lagana101 (Australia - temperate climate)
I want to know if you can grow lettuce but only look after it about 3 times a week. Would it still be okay and not turn bitter.
Lettuce 30 Apr, Paul (Australia - arid climate)
If growing in a raised bed with a timed dripper system, no problem. If growing in a wicking bed even better! Looking at it 3 times a week might take some extra mulch if growing in a normal bed with manual watering but should be still doable.

Parsley (also curly leaf parsley or flat leaf (Italian) parsley) 24 Apr, Marg (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
After losing my favourite curly leaf parsley and unable to replace it at present, I bought an Afro parsley. I find the leaves frail and wonder whether I should cut the tops off or pull leaves out.

Silverbeet (also Swiss Chard or Mangold) 22 Apr, Les (Australia - temperate climate)
I planted silverbeat 6 weeks ago in potting mix. Just doesn't seem to be growing at all. Its in a vege bin and part sun /shade.
Silverbeet (also Swiss Chard or Mangold) 27 Apr, Daniel (Australia - temperate climate)
Potting mix may not have enough nitrogen and water holding capacity for silverbeet. Cow manure and compost may be better. A side application of manure may encourage some growth.
