Why does my lettuce produce new leaves on top but the bottom leaves turn yellow and wilts? Looks like it is growing well, since new leave appear all the time, but the bottom leaves then wilts... What should I do, or what am I doing wrong?

Your lettuce is probably getting too much sun or its too dry... try putting them in a more shady spot and watering plenty?

Re the leaf curl. I planted broad bean from seed, only 12 in a raised bed. All of them came up beautifully but slowly one by one succumbed to lead curl. I read this is actually a disease spread by whitefly.A dose of copper spray should resolve. Will give it a go tomorrow and will post results

Hi all. Can anyone tell me the best fertilizer to use on Turnips; at planting and ongoing. I grow all my vegies in plastic containers and 2m x 1.5m timber boxes, using a mix of garden soil and potting mix. Never sure whether I should use composted Manure or granulated fertilizer? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Clive.

Hi Phoebe. If you plant corn outside now it might germinate if you are lucky, but it won't grow much because it is too cold. Best time to plant it is in spring or early summer. You might like to try peas or broad beans for this time of the year. Both are easy to germinate and grow. If you are looking for a grassy type of plant to grow, try wheat or barley. Good luck.

We have been growing rosella bushes and harvesting. They are starting to send out new shots down low. Can we cut them back and will they re shoot or do we need to pull out and stay again.

I have grown pumpkins 2 years in a row that have hard white lumps in them, I have bought a plant both times so I am thinking it must be something to do with were they are growing. Any idea of what could be coursing this?

Hi, I have the same problem. So far I have not found a definitive answer. Lack of water? Not last summer! Deficiency? Maybe, but cannot find any help there neither. Some pumkin have maybe one lump, others go to the cattle.
