The leaves of my goosberry bush are turning yellow. Does this mean we need to fertilise more often?
Cape Gooseberry (also Golden Berry, Inca Berry ) 30 Aug, sue (Australia - temperate climate)
I have observed my leaves turning yellow also, but what I have noticed is that as they turn yellow, there are new young green leaves [new growth] appearing right next to yellow leaves.these are just old leaves dying off as new leaves appear. Hope this helps. SUE

Cucumber 01 Nov, Darby (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
Same here, millions of them all around and in my containers of potatos. I have poured boiling water all around the pavers and set the containers off the ground on cutoffs of an old wooden trellis. It has helped and now I am setting down some 'ant rid' which I hope will eradicate any more nests.Keeping the soil moist is good too, ants don't like it wet.

I have a tomatoe planted on a plot above & a capsicum planted in a lower plot, does this mean that I have to dig out the capsicum, put it in a pot & shift it to another part of the garden?? Please advise. Many thanks.
Capsicum (also Bell peppers, Sweet peppers) 22 Nov, DrGreenThumb (Australia - temperate climate)
No. They are actually closely related. Transplanting can stunt growth or shock a plant. Consider this (and all) forums "just advice" Lettuce know how you go.
Garlic 30 Oct, Susie (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
Can you tell me about the tiny, hard growths forming on the outside of the garlic bulbs just harvested? They seem to be the beginnings of new bulbs attaching to the existing bulbs.

I live in Miami and my tomato plant (from seed) is about 2-3 feet high now but thin stem, very wiry, all over the place. I have wooden stakes in now, but how long after they reach this height will they have a tomato on it? I planted approx. 10 weeks ago.
Tomato 16 Feb, Jessica Santos (USA - Zone 11b climate)
What type of soil mix is best to grow in miami weather? I’m a beginner and getting mixed answers. I do want a organic method
Tomato 20 Mar, Bill (USA - Zone 10b climate)
In Miami, you'll want to plant your tomatoes in the cooler months.....the typical summer months that you'd think to plant tomatoes are too hot here in Florida....the night time temp needs to get below 80 degrees otherwise they will flower and then the flowers will fall off and not produce any fruit. So our cooler months, although still warm are the best months for tomatoes as well as some other veggies.....like peppers.
Tomato 01 Mar, GJX (USA - Zone 6a climate)
Tomatoes usually take 90 days to harvest. Tip: you need good fertilizer and do not water every day; yes it promotes growth, but once the plant is planted and well watered, then you should water only once a week. Of course this depends on your environment. Watering less will trigger the plant to produce more flowers. Plant 2" deeper than normal Use: 1 cup of gypsum in the hole 1 cup of calcium in the hole Your Tomato plant will be happy.
Artichokes (Globe) 29 Oct, debbie zulu (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)

Chilli peppers (also Hot peppers) 29 Oct, Leti (Australia - temperate climate)
Hi, I've had a beautiful chili plant which has been doing great for the last 5 years at least. This year we harvested lots of chilies but now they leaves are sort of wilting, facing downwards, pale and although we still get lots of chilies they are very small in size. Can you please help? I live in the Hunter Region, NSW. Funny thing I have another chili plant which is only a metre away and it looks fine.
Eggplant (also Aubergine) 28 Oct, Jim Petterson (USA - Zone 7a climate)
Is egplant perennial in zone 7a Charlotte NC
Eggplant (also Aubergine) 13 Nov, CAD (USA - Zone 10b climate)
Jim, if grown outdoors, eggplants are annuals in North Carolina. NC gets some tropical-feeling summer weather, but the winter frost and snow would keep eggplant from being a perennial in that climate. It's an annual here in zone 10b too!
