Ginger 01 Dec, Gay (USA - Zone 8b climate)
We have ginger growing in our garden that produces a beautiful reddish colored bloom. Is this an edible ginger?
Borage (also Burrage, Bugloss) 01 Dec, Max (Australia - temperate climate)
Borage is great with pasta as well!! Just get some young leaves, chop them in a half, get the water boiling. In the mean time peel one small potato per pasta portion. I use fusilli. Chop potatoes finely and throw pasta borage and potatoes at once, with a pinch of extra salt for the spuds! While it's cooking, fry some anchovies and garlic in a frying pan, then drain the pasta and throw it in the frying pan and saute for a couple of minutes. Delicious and unique! Buon appetito!
Daikon (also Japanese radish, Lo Bok) 30 Nov, Rick (USA - Zone 4a climate)

Daikon (also Japanese radish, Lo Bok) 04 Jun, Lynn (New Zealand - temperate climate)
I have the same issue with daikon radish. Is anyone able to answer this? It doesn't look like rot or bacterial infection to me. Is it still edible?
Sweet corn (also corn, maize) 30 Nov, Allan (Australia - temperate climate)
Little black bugs. Very skinny, weaving in and around the kernels of my corn cobs. Does anyone have any ideas on what these are. About half the lengths of a typical kernel and half the thickness of the hairs on the corn. Thanks
Capsicum (also Bell peppers, Sweet peppers) 30 Nov, Rosie (Australia - arid climate)
I need to know what causes my capsicum to develop a 'rot' spot on the lower part of the fruit. They are still very much green and roughly the size of a tennis ball and smaller. Thank you. Cheers Rosie

I haven't grown it yet and have just bought a small plant. Plant in the full moon week as it is for root growth.

Asparagus 17 Jan, Robyn (Australia - temperate climate)
I bought crowns at Aldi for $6 for 2xpkt. Also saw and bought more at The Reject Shop about july/August 2014. Am looking out for them again this year. Always browse at the above for odd and interesting bulbs.
Asparagus 10 May, Dulcetbrewer (Australia - temperate climate)
I haven't been able to find anyone selling crowns. Bunnings have seedlings at present -early May, but, like me, I think you will have to plant seeds or seedlings & wait it out.
Asparagus 05 May, Jo (Australia - temperate climate)
Adriana, bulbsonline.com.au has them in WA when in season, great, big healthy crowns way cheaper and bigger and better looking than the others I looked at, I planted loads last year. Still need to wait for a harvest with crowns though not as long as seeds or seedlings.
Asparagus 03 Jan, Julie (Australia - cool/mountain climate)
Adriana, Contact Tesselaars and/or Garden Express and ask to be put on their catalogue maailing list. Both usually sell crowns in winter by mail order.
Asparagus 02 Jan, Rem (Australia - temperate climate)
Try Wandilla Nursery. They usually have 3 year old crowns available.

Cucumber 27 Nov, Jack Zampella (USA - Zone 6b climate)
I grow an open pollinated variety of cucumbers (straight Eight) Two years ago I picked 83 cucumbers from two plants. This past season I only picked 18 cucumbers from two plants, 1. I had problems with cucumber beetles. Any suggestions on how to rid or control then? 2. Also, I believe that the were far less bees around to pollinate. No bees, no pollination. No pollination , no cucumbers. What is the best flower / herb that I can plant to attract pollinators to my cucumbers. Thanks
Sweet corn (also corn, maize) 27 Nov, Angel (Australia - temperate climate)

Lettuce 26 Nov, Sue Crosse (Australia - temperate climate)
Why does my lettuce taste bitter the leaves are soft and they look so good//
Lettuce 27 Nov, Elizabeth (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
Lettuce starts to taste bitter as the weather warms up. it is the first sign of lettuces bolting (going to seed). Keeping them cool/part shade and watered can stop them going to seed.
Spinach (also English spinach) 26 Nov, dorothy (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)

Salsify (also Vegetable oyster) 25 Nov, Sal. R (USA - Zone 4a climate)
I will be planting Salsify - Scorzonera in February. I have access to a professional Green House with heat in the Hudson Valley. I wanted to start the seeds there and was interested in taking the seedlings when they reach 2 inches to bring them out doors and plant them in their rows as described, probably in May to continue their growth. What would you suggest and when would I know when they are ready to harvest? Thank you Sal. R
